Change the red zone to gas rather than artillery

Recommended Posts

Change the red zone so that it's gas that fills the buildings within it. It would force people out of houses and into fire fights when they would have just stayed inside otherwise. It also doesn't force people inside buildings and stop them in their tracks or force people to chose between getting blown up or getting to the next zone (which if you're far away can be enough of a worry).

From a "game logistics" standpoint it can make sense too. I mean, when you think about it, before the big battle royale a team of people need to go around planting all of these weapons and equipment throughout this massive landmass. So why couldn't they also rig every building with deadly gas?

Therefore, when the red circle comes up, every building in that area will slowly let out gas that if you stay indoors will begin to kill you. You'll be forced to run outside and whatever awaits you. It'd also add a layer of strategy for players who are on the move to run towards houses when a red zone comes in hopes that an enemy player/team is going to be forced outside and have to fight them.

If the red zone was gas you'd take damage as long as you were in it similar to the blue....which in this game is supposed to be gas.

Ew no, no forcing out of buildings that sounds like absolutely awful gameplay.

Otherwise sounds like a solid replacement for Redzone, then again just ticking some damage feels like it might as well not unless it's substantial enough to require an impactful amount of meds like 2-3 damage per second.

Perhaps it could be more intense in the middle and we'd have an indicator for it, dead center would be lethal levels like 10 per second and quickly falling off to manageable levels.

I don’t like the red zone as a mechanic, however the one useful element it offers is audio cover.

You can use the sound to your tactical advantage for pushing, escaping, or rotating around multiple enemies.

I’d prefer not to remove that aspect.
