Game crashing and freezes after last patch

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hello, Everybody.

Since update 28 was released, me and my squad mates have been dealing with few problems:

1. When getting shot, game freezes for a moment
2. Right after landing, there's 1sec freeze, then game works properly for 2sec, then freeze again, 5sec properly working game, 2sec freeze, game works good.
This is how it works.

Right after landing I have rendered building, BUT without furnitures and shadows inside.
I do not know what's the problem.

3. Game crashes really often.
During last 2 hours, my game crashed about 5 times.
Yesterday: 3 times
Day when HOTFIX was released: 2 times

I haven't had problems like this before.

I have done most of W10 optimization for gaming ; I reinstalled my drivers with DDU(I currently use 425 drivers, as RTX2060 user I can not use my 391.01 drivers that guaranteed my 0 stutters, 100% stable 70 fps  and 0 freezes when I was using GTX760). I use ISC(Intelligent Standby Cleaner as a third party software + as inwindows task).

I do not use any 'launch settings'.

My settings:
Sharpen ON
Draw Distance Ultra
Textures low
Everything else very low
1920x1080 fullscreen

Sorry to say that, but game is kinda unplayable to me.
I can't hotdrop 'cause every single time I hit the ground right after landing, I get freeze.

This is the best thing - When I'm in the air, there;s 0 problem, when I'm just about to land - 0 problems, when hitting the ground - Freeze

Funny thing - I get packet lost or high ping right after touching the ground and after 0.5sec everything comes back to normal and after 3sec I have those 'graph red/orange' connection symbols to the left of screen, it dissapears after 0.5sec.

Even when I do not hotdrop, I gotta hide myself right after landing 'cause my furnitures and shadows are not rendered yet.

My friends have MUCH worse setup than I have and they do not really suffer any problems.

Any suggestion what might cause those problems?
Thanks

EDIT 1: I'd have forgotten.
Since update 27 it takes SOOO LONG to load me into the game.
Patch28 had an optimization change that should make the game load faster from menu into the game server and instead of that, it made my game load much, much slower.
Help.

I'm dumb. So don't mind me. I've experienced a lot of issues when I use the update system that pubg has. So as a learning lesson when there is an update I just uninstall the game and reinstall it. Takes time but saves me a ton of issues.

Doing this I've yet to have all issues. It sucks but I'd rather have all clean game opposed to having something screw up.

@Ricardo_Milos92

I've seen a few people mentioning this and it might be driver related. I'm personally not getting any issues while running version driver version 417.35 and a number of people that have had this issue have stopped having it once rolling back to that version.

Is there any chance you could give that a try and let me know?

Of course.
I will do it right now.

But hmm...
I think that 417.35... I think those were the really first RTX2060 drivers that's been released.

Right after I installed my brandly new RTX, I did really complain about the way how PUBG worked(stuttering etc).

But ofc I will give it a try.
Which problems does it solve? Just curious.

EDIT1: Before installing 425 drivers, I was using 419, then I also tried the latest 430.53(do not really remember the version) and I think 425 performs the best.
I am just about to give 417.35 a try.

EDIT2: There's no way I can give them a try.
I'm RTX2060 user and 417.35 does not support RTX'es.

The oldest drivers I can use = 417.71 and I'm downloading them now.

@Takarii There's a difference I think.

Game stil takes ages to load(from lobby to game server aka lobby)
Today game has not crashed YET.
I got fairy lesser fps in compare to 425 drivers.
Game still stutters from 150fps to 100 durin 0.5sec and then comes back to 120-130 fps, BUT I think that I no longer have that huge freezes.

I had a freeze only one time when I did hotdrop today, but other games in which I was hotdroping - No problems.
Right after touching the ground - No problems.
Furnitures were rendered inside.

I gotta try landing on Pochinki and Yasnaya and we'll see, BUT I think it's a bit better :)

Problem has not been fixed.

Today my game crashed.
Today I also had freezes.
Loading time is that huge I've never seen before.

I was out of problems 2 days ago.
Problems just came back.

Okay.
Every single day I gotta download something with 'EasyAnticheat'. The file that's getting download during files veryfing.
I think this file might cause my game crash

Im doubtful that is the reason as the file in particular is most likely related to anticheat definitions (a bit like the anti virus definitions you get when updating antivirus applications)

If none of the other solutions have worked so far it is possible there might be a hardware fault present. In the past I have had faults that seemed to get better and almost vanish, only to become recurring issues a few days/weeks later, and then see them vanish once more. They would also only present themselves in specific games too, which made it very hard to troubleshoot.

How To Geek has a simple(ish) list of things you can do to troubleshoot hardware issues using various software items. You can find it here https://www.howtogeek.com/174068/how-to-identify-which-hardware-component-is-failing-in-your-computer/

With all the crashing and slow loading could it be memory ram related. Restore in bios ram to default then try xmp settings. Is your GPU or Windows reporting any GPU memory errors or WHEA windows hardware errors? Check using hwinfo64 see if it's reporting anything. What ISP and router do you use , wired or wireless connection?

I doubt its hardware problem since everybody complains about this kind of issues now.

I use wireless router.
As I said - I have NEVER EVER had problems before HOTFIX.

I do not actually use XMP or 'Try memory!', I am MSI user. I just OC my ram in the past but that's it.

I remember i tested basic XMP on my MB but it worked worse than normal overclock in bios

For future reference "MSI user " means what exactly ? Is it you use an MSI motherboard or msi-mode in windows? Something else? Either way time to evaluate the system  using hwinfo64, MSI afterburner  something to see what's happening on the PC.  All else fails restore mobo to defaults reinstall windows and start from the beginning . Doesn't take much time these days. But something is cause the issue . Just need to dig.

I am simply suggesting additional troubleshooting to try and rule out other issues.

Yes, yes, I know.

I gave it another try - I gotta say I tried EVERYTHING and after last hotfix nothing seems to help.

About the ingame crashes with 'veryfing files'.

Today I played 5 games - After every of them I was just disabling the game and veryfing files. Everything was fine, 0 files to download.
I played another 2 games, I did not try to make a veryfication of files between them  - second game, number 7 - crash.
I check files - 1 to download :)

I opened pubg and there was 'Easyanticheat download' something and game just ran.

I'm 1000% sure it causes crashing 'cause I have been dealing with this problem since last hotfix.
I tried completely uninstalling PUBG from my PC, clearing registry to make my PUBG be installed as a totally fresh game, I tried XMP with bios, I tried EVERYTHING(disabling services also) and nothing really helped with crashing or 0.2sec freezes when fighting.

Day before hotfix - 0 freezes, 0 crashing, 0 problems(sometimes just not loaded furnitures inside and really long loading screen as always since patch 28 which should make my game load faster, but it made slower).

Hotfix - problems.

There's something wrong with it.

Also, about freeze when touching the ground - Right after I touch the ground(75% of times) game analyzer(the option that shows ping raise or packet loss) shows me ping drop from 30-40 to 120-260 and after 0.5-1sec it's normal again.

Also, when I am flying to the big city like Yasnaya, I have 0.2-0.5 sec freezes when I'm diving straight down to the point, it increases my ping for a moment, then when my parachute opens 0 problems, normal ping, touching the ground - higher ping.

Higher ping = in that case MUCH lower FPS and 0.5-1.5sec freezes

Wadu hek?

I'd like to understand this.

In every other game my ping is normal.
I enabled ports for PUBG following guide on forum, I have done everything and... bam.

I have gigabit fiber.  Wire connected to my PC.
0 problems in games like R6siege ; CSGO; mmorpgs.

I can play Witcher3, Rise of Tomb Raider and many other 'new' games on ultra settings with 0 drops.

Pubg? Works like it wants to.
Every new patch = every new problems.

I play with 3 other people.
Everybody of us has been complaining about crashes.
I even told them to do the same what I did - Verify files between games.
One game -> crash = verify files ---> download one broken

I have MSI MB.

I tried XMP option now, doesn't seem to help at all.
My RAM is OC'd on the same speed as I had done it in the past.

I did format my PC a month ago.
Everything is almost clear now in general, but even though I have to deal with problems in which I've been dealing since 2017.
It's like.. problems just dissapear during X update, but appear again in Y update.

Link me your discord on PM.
If we find a fix, I will just update this post and make a short guide about we've done.

I have found something funny.

I locked my FPS to 80 thanks to MSI Afterburner.
I was checking my FPS and Frametimes.

Right after touching the ground - 9fps and 100-300 ping in my game.
After 0.5sec - 30 ping, 60fps, after 0.2sec 80fps(locked number)
When taking the weapon(even training ground or normal map like Erangel) about 9-45fps and 99ping OR sometimes with 0 ping increasing.

Frametime graph - Straightforward line - UP(fps drop from 3 to 5 but NOTICEABLE it's like a 0.2-0.5sec freeze) - Straightforward line - UP - repeat

What I have done now?
I locked my FPS to 75.
I locked my FPS to 70.
I locked my FPS to 65.
Etc etc etc

I ened locking my FPS to 10, 20. 30.
I have done the same to higher FPS caps from 80 to even 150.

Why?
What I noticed?

This kind of 'freeze/stuttering' that lasts 0.2 to 0.5 sec MAX happens to every single FPS cap that I use.

To sum up - My game can not always run in stable FPS.
THERE ALWAYS HAS TO BE a 0.2 - 0.5sec NOTICEABLE freeze that comes in pair with 2-3-5-10 fps drops.

The question is - How to fix it?

Every single day, every new problem...
Really, not even joking.
Every day I have totally new problems that I haven't had before the last hotfix...

Today I have been kicked from the server 2 times: "Lost connection to host. 5.5.6 - 97F095

I am not really sure, I mean...

Today my game crashed one time, but all of the previous time - 0 crashes.

I think I found a fix.
Basically, every single time I had a crash - My ingame setting: "Change from reddot into canted sight - Scroll click' was getting reset into deafult setting.
That was the really single setting that was comming back to deafult.

I stopped changing it.
I left it on deafult button.

0 crashes :)

But today my game crashed despite not even touching canted sight binds, so I do not really know.

To me PUBG is just unplayable now...

Even support seems to not know what happens.

Which Windows are you running? 7/8/8.5/10? Version, Free(unregistered)/home/pro/educational/insider/something else? What update are you currently on?

Not enough information to properly diagnose...

Edit: What Anti-Virus or Firewall programs, besides Window Defender, do you currently have running on the PC you are trying to play PUBG on?

W10 Pro 1809

I took care of my win10 updates.
I uninstalled every single w10 update that was decreasing performance in games.
I always check things like this before installing.

The latest update I have - KB4499728

I uninstalled my antivirus.
Just W. Defender,  but I tried disabling this and firewall.
Nothing has helped.

I am 100% sure this is server releated problem...
I took a rest from PUBG.
After 4 days of break I came back to PUBG - Now I am dealing with packet losses right after landing...

Baa... landing(hotdrops ; middle risk locations) = You're gonna die. First 5-8 secs = 9fps or freezes right after taking items(Funny thing - When picking ammo = 0 problems ; when picking weapons = freeze)...

Problems are getting worse, worse, worse and worse.
I read reddit and people complain about packet losses since  beginning of this week.
I also suffer it SUDDENLY.

Everytime I play this game, I ragequit.
It's in terrible state now.

ISP Technican did not confirm any problems.
He claims everything is good with cable, my gigabit fiber and router.
PC Service - After making tests, benchmarks, checking temperatures, every single component - They claim that my PC has 0 problems.

I paid 50 bucks for very detailed diagnosis from my ISP and PC Service to get information that everything works perfect...

Other games like R6, single players games(ultra details only), MMORPG games - 0 problems

PUBG is the only one game that works different every single week...
I tried using VPN - It hasn't helped.

I totally surrender.

I swear - I have done everything that could be done to W10 and Nvidia Control Panel to get the best possible results.
I checked 100000 W10 and Nvidia forums about different services, devices, register, everything.
I can become an IT specialist now, but...

I tested different settings because some of them seemed to change performance, nothing helped.
I even gave a try 'placebo' changes. Nothing helped.

It's been 100 times reinstalling drivers with DDU.
NOTHING helped.
I have tested every single drivers for RTX in PUBG since RTX2060 got released - The latest ones and 425 still perform the best, but It doesn't help at anything.

What OS build are you running? Open CMD, "winver" to find out what 1809 build you are running.(17763.503 for me and no issues, maybe an RTX/Windows issue) Try rolling back your OS Build and see if that has any effect.

17763.475 version

I remind myself now one thing - Virtual memory
I gotta also do something there.

Try .503 and see if that has an effect. Make sure you have all prerequisites before install.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4494441/windows-10-update-kb4494441

Virtual Memory, XMP or factory overclocks could also be part of the issue. What manufacturer is your GPU from?(2060 RTX but from who?) Try declocking to OEM stock speeds. Base clock set to 1365 and boost clock set to 1680.
